This section is all about Wyze V3 cams (pictured on the right) and the surveillance software Agent DVR. I have been a Wyze supporter since 2018. Back then, they offered the V2 camera, and before that the V1.

I originally purchased several V2 cams and thought they worked pretty well — once I put a signal repeater in my garage for better WiFi coverage. When the V3 came out, it appeared that the image quality improved and the cam was now weather resistant. I upgraded six of my V2s to V3s. I primarily use these cams to monitor the outside of my home. One monitors the activity of our pet guinea pigs.

This is a wireless camera billed as a home security camera, although the term “security” should be taken with a grain of salt. While the image quality is very good given the price of the camera, it may not be what you might consider a true security camera.

I will admit that the Wyze cams offer a long list of features compared to its rivals like the Blink Mini. Click here for more info on the Blink Mini. The short answer is Wyze has better optics and the Blink Mini has a better speaker. Here is a YouTube video that compares the two head-to-head.

One big feature of Wyze cameras is that they support RTSP (with a firmware update). This allows you to bypass the cloud for storage. The Blink Mini does not support RTSP so you are tied to the cloud for storage.
